Test project case study

Requirement

Since 2018 we’ve been working regularly on refurbishment projects at Braintree Village, an outlet shopping complex with over 75 premium brands in a village-style setting in Essex.

We were originally engaged to work with IDL, the architects for the scheme, to interpret their distinctive vision for the village as a whole while honouring the individual identity of the different brands. Starting with IDL’s design, we created drawings of composite installations for the individual units, sourcing and re-engineering materials from various suppliers to achieve the slim sightlines, aesthetics and functionality required.

This includes Crittall-style entrance doors from Smart (https://www.smartsystems.co.uk) and our own oriel windows.

Over time, we’ve adapted our designs to meet changing individual needs as well as any new site-wide enhancements, all while keeping the overall visual integrity of the village.

To date we’ve worked on about half of the total units with on-site contractors such as ABR Projects, NSBS and 7Formation, refurbishing and upgrading the shop fronts as new tenants move in or take on bigger premises – including those for Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Armani, Kate Spade, Adidas, Cadbury, The Cornish Bakery, and Mountain Warehouse.
